A program of the OLBH Foundation, Healthy Community Services (HCS) is the umbrella under which OLBH conducts its various community and faith-based health ministry initiatives.
Healthy Community Services includes:
Health Ministries/Faith Community Nursing - HCS works with the approximately 50 current CHWP congregational partnerships. HCS coordinates with volunteer liaisons in its partner churches and organizations to meet the health care needs of congregations and members.
Van Ministry - HCS provides transportation to and from the OLBH campus for office visits and outpatient services at OLBH. The service is free to those who have no other means of transportation.
Meals on Wheels - HCS provides support to the Meals on Wheels routes with which OLBH is associated.
Companions in Care - HCS uses volunteer caregivers to address the needs of the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled in the FIVCO area.
Health Screenings - OLBH conducts more than 1,500 individual health screenings annually.
Community Grants - The OLBH Foundation awards community support grants biannually. Grants are awarded based on set criteria and focus on serving the greater community good.
Auxiliary/Volunteers - OLBH's team of volunteers donate thousands of hours annually to help in various hospital departments and assist community members and visitors. The OLBH Auxiliary operates the hospital gift shop and conducts various fund raising activities throughout the year to benefit the community and in particular, the patients of OLBH.
Home Emergency Response/LifeLine - Senior citizens face challenges daily. OLBH's Healthy Community Services offers a home-emergency response unit that provides seniors help in an emergency with just the push of a button. The service gives individuals the confidence and freedom to live on their own. Whenever help is needed, one press of the lightweight, waterproof help button activates the small in-home unit. With the LifeLine system, a small machine is connected to the telephone allowing the use of a remote control to signal for help in the event an emergency occurs. The hospital arranges for a call center to be notified to send help upon signaling. Join those who are living independently in their own homes thanks to LifeLine, a truly personal, caring connection.
