Social
Services
When illness strikes, you may feel a bit overwhelmed with the challenges
that come with being sick. Worries about finances, getting adequate care,
the effects of the illness on your family and possible adjustment to
a new lifestyle are some of the issues that a medical social worker can
help you through.
The Social Services Department understands individual needs and are
ready to provide emotional support and to share valuable information
on the community resources and programs available to you. You can then
make independent choices about the services you may need to help you
through your hospitalization and recovery.
Professional social workers provide support and guidance in dealing
with an illness or treatment and can help you make decisions about discharge
plans. They are experienced in working with community agencies that can
provide you with the services you may need following discharge.
