Lyons Named Nurse of the Year
Rhonda Lyons, RN, a nurse in the hospital’s Pre-Admission Testing Department, is the recipient of the ninth annual Sister Ruth Ellen James Nursing Excellence Award.
Nominated by her peers, Lyons was selected due to her demonstration of clinical excellence in the workplace. Nominations also reflected a regard and admiration for her abilities, commitment, and professionalism. Lyons has been a nurse at OLBH since 1988. She earned her nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Huntington.
The award is named after Sister Ruth Ellen James, a long-time nurse at OLBH known for her caring nature and commitment to the hospital’s mission. Lyons was chosen from among five nurse nominees selected by their peers to represent OLBH at the at the 31st annual Kentucky Nurse Day Recognition Awards ceremony in Louisville.
“Rhonda is an excellent nurse and a wonderful representation of the values of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital and the nursing profession,” Jennifer Moore, OLBH senior vice president of Patient Care, said. “Rhonda was nominated by her peers, a fact that demonstrates the amount of respect she has earned from her coworkers for her skills and the compassionate regard for our patients.”
