Take the Leap to a Healthy Heart Feb. 29
OLBH will host “Take the Leap to a Healthy Heart” Wed., Feb. 29 from 4-6:30 p.m. at Bellefonte Pavilion (2000 Ashland Drive) on the campus of OLBH. The free event is in recognition of February's designation as American Heart Month.
“Take the Leap to a Healthy Heart” takes place on Leap Day as a reminder to area residents of the importance of their hearts. Heart healthy refreshments will be served and live healthy cooking demonstrations will both be part of the heart awareness event. The event is structured so that attendees can come and go at their leisure. Exclusive discounted rates to OLBH’s Firm Fitness will be available.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. It is the leading cause of death for both men and women as well as being the leading cause of death for people of most ethnicities in the United States, including African Americans, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Hispanics, and whites. Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia all rank near the top of states that have the most deaths due to heart disease.
