healthy living with diabetes
As a means to control diabetes and prevent related health problems such as limb amputation or blindness, the Diabetes & Wound Care Center provides patients detailed instruction on blood sugar management, medication usage/precautions, exercise, nutrition and stress management. Instruction is geared toward the individual's type and scope of diabetes.
Type I Diabetes -- A disease in which the body does not produce any
insulin. Type I diabetes most often occurs in children and young adults
and accounts for five to 10 percent of all diabetes in the United
States.
Type II Diabetes -- A metabolic disorder, Type II diabetes results from
the body's inability to make enough, or properly use insulin.
